a couple of years ago, i read a book called Belle Prater's Boy and there was a girl in it called Gypsy.

what do you think of that name?

just curious to see what everyone thinks.

This highly unusual name from a book?
no
Reply:I actually know a woman named Gypsy. I love her name.. but, she was born in the 60's and was a bit of a hippy so, you know how that goes.... I think her daughter is actually named Sunshine, and I'm not kidding!!! lol ;)
Reply:Um, no.
Reply:Not a first name but maybe a middle name. I think first names should be a bit calmer because that is what you will call them by. The middle name can be as crazy as you want as long as it flows. It is unique but not stupid that way. :)
Reply:I don't care for it. I could see an actress giving their child that name. So you have to be kinda goofy to name a kid that.
Reply:I personally don't like it, it's a name of an ethnic group. But I know some uncommon names from books: Hermione, Esmeralda, Atticus, Albus, Ginevra, Sirius, Regulus, orion and other Harry Potter characters.
Reply:i would never call any one that

no offense to people who like it or whatever but

not for me

...
Reply:Gypsy Rose Lee, the stripper. If you have a handy nickname ready, you could chance it, but it's a real gamble. Gyp is a bad nickname. That actress from Sopranos named her baby Gypsyrose.
Reply:not a good name. but it all depends on the character.
Reply:I have seen a girl named Gypsy-Rose but it is not really my type of name.
Reply:That would be cute...if you were naming a cat! Not for a baby though! There are too many negative connotations associated with the term Gypsy.
