Do you know anyone with an unusual christian name?

My boyfriend is called Baden - he has never met another one - only downside is that when he is telling people his name they always go

What - as in Baden Powell!!!! It drives him nuts

Many of his friends call him B

Do you know anyone with an unusual christian name?
My other half liked the name NEON, and thought it original, however I checked it out on

www.ancestry.co.uk

and there were loads, he was quite disappointed that it wasn't as 'weird' and original as he thought it would be.

but we don't actually know anyone with this name.

a past relative had the name Webster, I like that.
Reply:I know someone called Garnet. Can't be too many of those.
Reply:I'm not including names that are unusual to the uk that belong to people who are either from or their family are from the country where the name originates.

Merlin - my late uncle, if i were to have a son i would give him merlin as a middle name, after my uncle as he was a lovely man but also as its a pretty cool name.

Willow - a girl i used to work with, not the character from buffy the vampire slayer.

Brenton - a friends brother

Ginevra - a girl i went to school with (its italian but she's irish)

Brynn - boy i went to school with

Jayashri - another girl i went to school with. i love this name, its the goddess of victory in sandskrit

Cordelia - yet another girl from school, and another lovely name thats not commonly used.

Marjorie - my gran, though it was perhaps not so unusual for her gernation.

Annora - my friends 2 year old daughter

Nadine - a girl who lived down the street where i grew up

Stacey - a friend, if he were a girl i dont think it would be unusual, but he's the only guy i have come across with this name.

Leilani - a friend, such a pretty hawaiian name, means heavenly flower.
Reply:Yes ,i have heard of a baby boy being named ATHOL.
Reply:"Christian name" meaning simply given name, or one with specifically Biblical and/or religious undertones? ;) Assuming the latter, I've know individuals with the following less-than-common "Christian" names:

Dara - many different roots for this one, but it is a Bilical name as well (the Hebrew meaning likely being "wisdom" or "compassion").

Devri - stems from Devorah (Deborah).

Aquila - a masculine Biblical name, though I knew a girl called this, interestingly enough. ;)

Drusilla - went to school with her. She commonly went by simply Dru, however.

Ephraim - cousin's husband.

Ezekiel - a different cousin (in his teens).

Javan - another cousin's son.

Jeshua - variant transcription of Yeshua (same root as Jesus/Joshua).

Tabitha - bit less common on a 30-year-old.

Naomi - ditto. Though I'm seeing this quite a bit more on toddlers now. ;)

Serafina - one of my daughter's little friends. Her mother sometimes shortens it to Sera, and she also goes by Seri (SAYR-ee) in school, to differentiate from another Sarah.

Vashti - not an actual person I know, but I couldn't resist mentioning how great it was hearing this used for a little girl in my 1st-grader's daily reader the other day!

Eliezer - husband's coworker (goes by Eli, but said EL-ee).

I'm sure I know of others, but that seems to be plenty. ;)
