Do you have an unusual name or know someone that does?

What is it? How do you pronounce it? Do you like it?

Do you have an unusual name or know someone that does?
I have a friend named Neva (pronounced Nee-vah). Everyone loves her name; it's very fitting for her. If/when I have a daughter I might name her that.

Reply:Acadia

ah-CAY-dee-ah

Yes I do, except when people 1) assume my nickname, Cady, is actually Katie and think my real name must be Kathleen or Katherine, and 2) have NO IDEA where Acadia is, or if they do, why someone would name their daughter that. Most people still look blank when I say "You know ... the Acadians ... they moved to Louisiana and they're called Cajun now." I wish they'd have paid attention during American History.

I think it's lovely.

Reply:My name isn't unusual, but the way I got it is kind of neat, at least I think it is. My sister was 11 when our parents found out they had been approved to adopt me. Before they left to get me my sister asked them to name me after her favorite soap opera character, and they actually listened to her suggestion.
Reply:My name is Amarette (am-a-reh-t, sounds like barette) which I do not mind, and my nick name is Amma or Amy. I like it.
Reply:One of the most unusual last names I've ever seen was Deathrage. (Death- rage.) Another one was Rape. I used to work in insurance and I saw a lot of dumb names, like Robert Roberts, Michael Michaels, etc.

I had a friend who named her first child Cheyenne. (pronounced shy- ann.) I always thought that was pretty. I liked her name, too. It was Tess. Not very unusual, I suppose, but pretty, just the same.
Reply:My friend's name is Liana and it is pronounced Lee-ar-na. I think it sounds beautiful and if I have another girl I will name her this.
Reply:My sis in law wants to name her daughter Xaharax, pronounced Zaharazz, I wrote a question about it.
Reply:Justin Case was in my class a long time ago.
