Is Seth really that unusual of a name?

So many people in Hawaii have never heard of this name. Whenever I tell them what my son's name is they want me to repeat it, spell it and tell them how I came up with it.

Maybe it's just unusual here in Hawaii. .

Is Seth really that unusual of a name?
It's a fairly common name here where i live in NJ, i've known at least 3 Seth's. Yea maybe ur right and it's just unusual there in Hawaii. Hope this helps, :D.

Reply:Hmm... I don't know. It's not that unusual but it's not a name you hear everyday. My neighbors have a son named Seth, and personally, I really like the name. Just explain to them that it's from the Bible. Maybe then they'll get it.

Are these like native people/speakers that are asking? Perhaps it's not a name they can grasp in their native tongue, like most European names would probably sound to us. Otherwise I would think most Americans would at least have heard of it before.
Reply:I live in Hawaii and my cousins name is Seth and I dated a guy here named Seth (granted I am from Wyoming and in the military) but I don't think that it is that unusual and I actually like that name.
Reply:No,Seth is not really an unusual name. However, you don't really hear of a lot of people naming their child Seth. That's probably why. I personally like the name myself (duh!! as you do to or your child wouldn't have the name...LOL).
