What is your favorite unusual/offbeat name that you would never use but love anyway?

For me, it's Morgandy (it's a girls' name). I love the name but most likely wouldn't give it to my child, if I ever have one.

What's yours?

What is your favorite unusual/offbeat name that you would never use but love anyway?
Abcde-pronounced ab-siddy and also conveniently the first five letters of the alphabet. Sounds better than it looks. say it out loud.
Reply:Dalila :)
Reply:Phoenix love the name for a little girl but never had the guts to use it. I have 2 girls.
Reply:River for a boy

Frankie for a girl

Lenny for a girl

Lennon for a boy
Reply:Lyric (actually that's my horse's name -- I just like it!)
Reply:Gaelyn. I heard it somewhere and really loved it..but the kid would probably get made fun of..for a girl btw..
Reply:I wanted to name my daughter Trinity, but my nephews name is Trenton so that was out. We ended up naming her Rileigh Hope!
Reply:i think kenya is adorable
Reply:Endellion.

It's an old saints' name. I might use it in the middle spot, but I don't think I'd ever use it as a given name.
Reply:Ireland. It's not unusual (or wierd), but you don't hear it often. But I would never use it.
Reply:There are (or were) plenty of less common options on our lists that I would have used in a heartbeat, but as far as those that are SO unusual/offbeat I wouldn't likely use them in real life -- but love them enough to keep them on the long list regardless ;) -- it would likely be ...

Somerled - basically an old Celtic name (adapted from Viking roots) meaning "summer traveller." It's always intrigued me, and I find the name and meaning so attractive, but I know others unfamiliar with it would think it odd or even feminine (given the similar sound to trendy Summer).

Luisiuil - perhaps no explanation is necessary here, since I'm certain very few (in the states) could even begin to try and pronounce Luisiuil. ;) But if you DO know how to say it, it truly has a lovely sound! So definitely one of those names I love in theory, but could never use in real life.

And for what it's worth, we've actually had Morgandy on past lists, and I find it quite ripe for modern usage. After all, it shortens to very-familiar -- even popular -- Morgan, and offers various other approachable nickname options ... Molly, Maggie, Mora, Mandy, Andy, Annie, etc. Very versatile, and I don't think it'd be at all odd or problematic on any child (or adult, for that matter). I wouldn't abandon that one! ;)
Reply:My unusual but favourite name'Umapati' . May be it is offbeat.
Reply:For a girl -- Artemis (What parent wouldn't want her daughter to be the goddess of the moon, chastity, and the hunt? Unfortunately, with a one-syllable last name, it sounds a lot like Optimus Prime.)

For a boy -- Ashley (I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this name, but I would never dream of giving it to a son, since it's primarily used for girls now. To appease myself, I named my car this instead.)
Reply:Teagan and Zora
Reply:I like Cadence, but everyone else seems to hate it. So I guess I would never use the name.
Reply:Girl - Denali ( Den-ah-lee )

Boy - Jianni ( Gee-ah-knee )
Reply:Morgandy is nice. I've never considered it for a girls' first name but it has a nice sound to it

I like Unity but would never use it

I love this name but I think it is a bit out there and my husband would never go for it. Besides it is a bit weird.

I have always liked the name Pilar too.
Reply:My guilty pleasures are Ireland and Kenya for a girl, but I would never use them, since they're so popular and trendyee.
Reply:Asia ....... i love the name but i dont think i would name my baby after a country, suburb or town ... its cruel ......
Reply:I always loved the name Wyland for a boy but i'd never use it. I named my son Noah. No reason to make life hard for the kid with a goofy name.
Reply:I think the name Olive is different and cute but I'm not sure if my baby would like it. So I'm undecided if I would ever use it.
