why do some people make up names for their kids or choose far-out names? some peeps have told me they want their kids to be unique, what is it really?
Why do some people name their children unusual names nobody's ever heard of?
some people are asking for their kids to be beaten up as school.
They think it's a laugh to name them stupid names and five years later realise how stupid they were to call them Maximus because they liked the film Gladiator.
Stick to something decent, for your kids sake.
Reply:Unique
Reply:just to be different . they like it .
Reply:So My husband's name is Chris Jones. Now how many other people in the world have this name? For our wedding registry there were at least 300 other Chris Jones' in the United states. That's why people have unique names for their kids. So there are no more Chris'.
Reply:Some people with a very common last name like "Smith" want more unique names so their kids are not confused with other people. And some people just hear a name they really like and want to use it!
Reply:this way their children have a better chnce of liking their names when they are older...if they were a catherine ...or mathew well theres troo many people with those names
Reply:they just want to be different and unique. as for my parents, they name us according to the old tradition that have meaning base on the their beliefs.
Reply:maybe they need attention....
Reply:Cause its unique and no body else ha it yeaaaa and it is probably a combination of the 2 parents name
Reply:people want to be different...
Reply:they want there kids to be unique.
Reply:They're black.
Reply:My husband have chosen names for our daughters that are not common, but we didn't make them up. We wanted names that would stand out on a resume someday, why not give them every advantage we can? Also, I wouldn't want to give my child a name that is super popular because I wouldn't want them to be one of 5 Graces or 5 Michaels in their classes in school. I want my kids to feel special.
Reply:for attention i imagine. some names are kinda unique in a way, some are rather stupid. Sometimes I wonder about these movie stars and where the heck do they come up with names like Finneus. Who in their right mind would call their child that ? totally weird. what ever happened to natural common names anyways?
Reply:The need to be different or to stand out so that when someone says what's your child's name and they say "Shiloh Nuvel" you say that's cute and different. You will more than likely recall the name. Who knows, good question
Reply:I have a name few people have and I love it. Can't find a cup or bracelet in a souvenir shop which will have my name. I like it like that.
Reply:people are tired of hearing the same boring and common names and they want a name that is unique and stands out. its about individuality.
Reply:I think they do this because they want their kids to grow up like them and make a career out of working at McDonald's or CVS or a strip club. Movie stars' children excluded, how many people do you know named LaShieka or Tamarius or Juneatta or any other host of "weird" names who hold professional positions?
Reply:for uniqueness silly.
Reply:Because it's nice to be able to say your kid's name without 10 other kids turning around.
I love the idea of unique names (as long as they aren't too out there). When I was in school there were 2 other girls in my class with my name not to mention the other 10 or so girls in the rest of the school with my name. It was very annoying.
Reply:as if bob and joe are better
Reply:Uniqueness...like I know a lot of Jessica's and it's always like, "Jessica who?" or "which Jessica?"
Reply:to be special and boastful. like own the bigest diamond in the world or own star bucks
Reply:I seriously think it is a competition to see who can come up with the strangest names. I personally would perfer a name that doesn't take two hours to figure out how to pronounce.
Reply:some people do it to be different, unique, to stray away from the normal, dull, everyday names
Reply:because it makes there child different from all the other children. im preg. and I want to a unique name for my child but I want it too be cute. I want to let my child know that he is special to me.
Reply:i think the reason that so many parents choose odd names for their children is that they don't want them to have the same name as someone else in their school. If i had a name like jennifer, or jessica their would have been probably 10 others in the school.Plus it helps teachers in remembering their childs name. I mean come on if i was a teacher and i had a student named apple i think i would remember their name a little better.
Reply:It's a lazy attempt to make their kid unique and special -- rather than encouraging their kid to realize their potential and actually BECOME someone important and noteworthy....
Reply:It actually is so their children to be unique. Or maybe even so they will like their name more. I really would want to have a name that everyone else has.
Reply:i think it's for attention. But they have to realize those kids have to grow up with those names and later on be somone's mother, father, grandmother.. Those kinds of names should be nicknames because they will outgrow them
