I do. I had, a great grandpa and uncle, who both had the first name of Hartwell, on my mom's side, and I know of others who's had family members with, unusual first or middle names. Such as my sweetheart's dad and brother, who both had, the first name of Friend

you can find people named "Snow Frost" and "Frost Snow". Some have a middle initial "N". Also two people in England whose last name is a slang term for a lady's private part that rhymes with "Runt". They are famous in genealogical circles and I can't take credit for finding them; someone sent me a list of oddities that had twelve layers of "%26gt;" in it and I remembered them.

Back in the 19th century it wasn't unusual for girls to be named for states. One family line,


there were an Indiana, Missouri, Virginia, Louisiana. I have even seen on census records girls named Arkansas.
Reply:Here are some of the unusual names in my family tree: Delphin, Darwin, Kermit, Serepta, Temperance and I had a grandmother whose name was Lovina, but her nickname was "Love". I had uncles who had no middle names but just simply the initials of their parents' last names (Walter A. and Welby O.).





Your Hartwell sounds like a family name. Also, a friend of mine has relatives whose last name is Friend.





In my family, many members were named after presidents such as: James Madison, Woodrow Wilson, Andrew Jackson, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

Reply:On my husbands side they have the most unusual mans name I have ever heard and as far as I can see it went back five generations. I am so glad it did really because they have a very common surname, but I have only ever come across this name five times and they are all related to my husband. The name is 'ZEPHANIAH', it made doing my husbands family tree a lot easier because our Zephaniah's are unique.
Reply:My family has the name Neely. My great-great grandfather named his son after a favorite uncle, and so it started as a generational thing. Dont know if you would consider it "unique" but I rarely hear it used for males (like in my family).
